Cosmetic dentistry has its foundation in aesthetics. How things look and how beauty is perceived have been important throughout history, captured over the years by artists and architects in all manners of their work, from classical Greek and Roman architecture to the art of Picasso.
Contemporary art is the latest stage in an ongoing debate about aesthetics - causing us to think just what we consider to be beautiful, what is pleasing to the eye. It is another marker of aesthetics, and one which raises interesting questions about what beauty is in the modern age.
I consider the work of Katie Brown, a young local artist, a fine example of modern day aesthetics, and believe that her vision of art and of what is pleasing to the eye has much in common with our views on the appreciation of aesthetics. I am delighted that she has allowed me to showcase some of her work on my website.
